Goodbye to the Land of Not Good Enough
The letter writer was in a place where she didn’t want to share because it wasn’t good enough. If I could have responded I would have said, “you’re not the only one honey!”
I like to make people laugh and then say, "hmmm." If I have done that then I have successfully changed the way you have seen the world.

In three week this relatively relaxed and, actually, kind of bored teacher will return to her professional calling which is the interesting life of middle school. Which means I will return to the days of goofy boys who think it’s funny to throw folded bits of post it […]
Life did not say anything. Translated, that meant wait and see. Wait and see? I do not like wait and see. I’m the kind of person that googles the plot spoiler when the story is too suspenseful. What was I waiting to see?
Pastor Tommy Barnett says many memorable things, but two are pertinent to this story. The first one is: If you want to make your life better, help somebody else improve theirs. My response to Pastor Barnett had been, “Yeah, right, what do you want me to do for […]
As we left I handed Alex a piece of gum. She said, “My sister said adults don’t chew gum!” Giddy from the red kool aid stupor I thought to myself, “Somebody needs to slap Alex’s sister.” I actually said, “She’s probably never had a teacher with stinky breath.
After 7 days of this, I realized 2 things. Mrs. B has an empty nest and she is depressed. Which is shocking because I still am the happiest depressed person I know. What happens next? Is this why old ladies have that big hair? It this why old men feed birds at the park? Will my husband get more appreciable tastes in music? (We can only hope) I think it’s the not knowing what’s next is what makes this so hard.
Last week I made home made jam. It was so good, I gave it away. Except I gave too much away and didn’t save any for myself. Isn’t that the rule. If you make something to share it turns out great. If you make it to store it […]
This was our week to go to the library. Every time, before we visit the library I teach and sometimes reteach my students appropriate library behavior. When I don’t chaos ensues. Apparently as time progressed, and I didn’t, the concept of library and amusement park became synonymous in […]
Girlfriends, remember when we were kids and our moms made the pigtails too tight? Yeah it was one of those headaches. Except, my hair is curly, so I couldn’t take out the ponytail. If I did, we’d have a Macy Gray situation on our hands.
What happened next I can now laugh about because I’m sharing the story, but at the time left me butt hurt.
